Validity Period at a Glance
The ESTA is generally valid for up to 2 years from the date of issue. If your passport expires within this time, your ESTA automatically loses its validity as well, since it is permanently linked to the passport number.
Multiple Entries With One ESTA
Within its validity period, you can enter the USA as many times as you like with a single ESTA, provided each individual stay does not exceed 90 days and continues to serve tourist or business purposes.
What Happens When Your Passport Expires?
If you receive a new passport, you must apply for a new ESTA – even if the old ESTA would still technically be valid. It cannot be transferred to the new passport.
